This article examines the symbolic exclusion of the female body in Western philosophy and its rearticulation within Italian feminism of sexual difference. Through the figures of Medusa and the maternal, it argues that the philosophical tradition constructs subjectivity by removing its embodied and generative origins. Reclaiming natality and maternity as relational and symbolic foundations, the study redefines subjectivity as situated, sexed, and interdependent. This perspective reframes maternity as a generative principle that enables new forms of subjectivation and redefines the foundations of human subjectivity. Engaging contemporary feminist critiques, it proposes the maternal as a political and transformative paradigm beyond essentialism.
