History is not the past. La lettura della contemporaneità politica nel pensiero della storiografia italiana

In this paper, I will consider the works of three main gures of the present Italian historiographical scenario – Adriano Prosperi, Paolo Prodi, Carlo Ginzburg – in order to assess what lesson can be learned from their reflection on contemporaneity. I will do so, however, by, not by focusing so much on their explicit contents as on what can be inferred from them regarding the peculiar «regime of historicity» which today characterizes our understanding of history.
