This contribution presents a collection of seven essays by Luca Bianchi devoted to the relationship between Dante Alighieri and Averroism, gathered in Il pane dei filosofi. It highlights the extent to which the notion of “Averroism” remains an open and contested field of inquiry, whose boundaries and content have undergone significant revision since early twentieth-century Neo-Thomist interpretations. Particular attention is given to the reassessment of Siger of Brabant’s alleged heterodoxy and to the role played by Dante in shaping the historiographical image of Thomas Aquinas as a paradigmatic defender of Christianity. More broadly, the essays examine the formation and use of key historiographical categories, often employed without sufficient theoretical scrutiny. The interview offers a concise and accessible account of these issues.
