This essay examines the legacy of Italian feminism of the 1970s, particularly with regard to bodily liberation and its gendered positioning and investigates how processes of self-determination and liberation emerge within certain contemporary writing practices. Within this framework, language is understood as a fundamental tool for the construction of an embodied and multifaceted identity. Focusing specifically on the writings of Goliarda Sapienza and Michela Murgia, the essay seeks to demonstrate how self-narration, conceived as a process of gendered subjectivation, continues to constitute for women one of the most effective forms of struggle and resistance against the monolingualism imposed by persistently entrenched patriarchal logics.
