This contribution aims to highlight a central path in the philosophical and historiographical journey of Pietro Chiodi. Firstly, it will be demonstrated how, by emphasizing the category of “possibility” – after assimilating Heidegger’s interpretation of the Critique of Pure Reason – Chiodi conceived his 1961 volume on La deduzione nell’opera di Kant (The Deduction in Kant’s Work). In the second part of the paper, the focus will shift to the principal conclusions of the 1961 book, which, only a few years later, informed his last and emblematic curatorship, the 1970 translation of Kant’s Scritti morali (Moral Writings). This work led to an anti-intellectualistic interpretation of Kantian ethics, and, more importantly, to significant reflections with a pronounced ethical-political orientation, through which Chiodi seemed intent on reconciling with the dramatic experiences of his past.
